Why leave your investment in the hands of these guys?
Once again, FaceBook suffered a glitch in its network, and fans were left without access to their News Feed and Notifications.
Back on November 11, 2019, celebrities and influencers were furious at Instagram’s experiment with hiding likes, and some were threatening to stop posting on the app.
On April 14, 2019, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp reported being down for 2 hours.
Do you guys also remember when Myspace and more resent Google+ a very popular social network announced they were shutting down their networks? Revealing that users will no longer be able to update, create new profiles, pages, and community events.
In this digital age, having a presence online is crucial.
It doesn’t matter if you’re an author, an event planner, fitness, or life coach, to name a few. If there is one thing that you need, it’s a website.
Your website is the single most important marketing tool for your business.
Your website is a static place used to inform, educate, and generate leads. It let readers know about who you are and what you do.
Your website is your on a personal virtual assistant that will showcase your business 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year.
|Your Website||Social Media|
|With a website, you control the narrative, and you can send people to your social pages when you decide.||With only social media channels, you don’t own your brand; you are limited by the interface and functionality of the social media platform. The platform controls the layout and content you publish through its terms and conditions.|
|Having a website allows you to have full control over your brand. It’s yours – you have complete ownership over it.||Social media is a marketing tool.|
|Your website offers more opportunity to gain insight from traffic analytics and user behavior.||Social media is limited by the analytics and insights available from the platform.|
Your website offers more opportunity to gain insight from traffic analytics and user behavior. Social media is limited by the analytics and insights available from the platform.
Having a website gives you security and certainty when it comes to your brand.
There are no terms and conditions you need to follow, and you want to have to worry about the algorithms changing, which affects your organic reach.
Nor do you have to worry about it shutting down or you being put in FaceBook jail.
Granted these social platforms are a great way to market your business.
And I would never discourage anyone from utilizing these tools to grow your business.
Because I use them, too.
Ask yourself these questions…
- What happens to my business if it’s down for two hours?
- Will my fans continue to follow me if they can’t reach me?
- What happens if the network provider decides to shut down their network altogether?
Remember, your website is the heartbeat of your online presence, and social media is your marketing tool. The two go hand in hand, and both are crucial to online success in this digital age.
